As we began to transition into the fall, the time has come to pack away your fun summer outfits and begin to gather your favorite sweaters, boots, and jackets for the must-have season trends for 2013.  Remember, when incorporating these trends it’s always fun to mix, match, and layer your favorite tailored looks for an all over cohesive contrast.

Statement coats

Model Kendra Ensing is wearing a coat from a boutique named Renwar that is designed by BCG clothing line ($150). For a complete head to toe look, pair with a neutral tight from Forever 21 ($7.50) and knee-high boots from Aldo ($100).

One of the hottest trends this fall that we cannot help but look twice at is that statement coat that screams the wow factor. From military coats to printed or pleated coats, you really don’t want to leave the house without one. With fall in full- throttle you really can wear anything with a statement coat. With a coat that chic, you definitely want the coat to do the talking.

A-line skirts and sweaters

The model sports a black-chunky sweater from Forever21 ($13) paired with a vintage red cotton skirt ($15) from College Town Vintage. Throw tights ($7.50), combat boots ($40), and spiky jewelry to give the outfit some edge if you’re feeling spunky! This look is perfect for a typical school day that is both warm and adorable.

Nothing says Autumn unless you have your closet full of your favorite cozy sweaters out and ready to wear. The newest hot trend this fall is to pair an oversized sweater with an A-line school girl skirt. Hold on, it doesn’t stop there. Pair with tights and combat boots that down-right look flawless and playful. This trend not only shows a feminine and soft look but also screams comfortable. How could you complain? Combat boots, however, are a great to make a statement without trying too hard. The boots compliment the outfit because of the edge it gives any outfit when you put them on.

Prints

The model is wearing a bulls eye Modcloth dress ($75) with knee high socks from Free People ($15) and caramel boots from Aldo($100). For a more casual look, we have a tailored green button-up top with leather accents from Humanity Boutique ($42), an Aztec printed track pant ($44), and a gold chain necklace ($36) to help spruce the outfit up.

As we take a look at our next trend, we have style expert Courtney Hunt, owner of Humanity Boutique in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to help give us her intake of what is trending now.

No matter what season it is does anyone ever get sick of fun, bold patterns? Patterns like leopard, Aztec and pinstripe are not only being featured in your favorite tops but also on skirts, pants, shoes and jackets! Hunt says the biggest print to look out for this fall is black and white mixed patterns with an accent of emerald. “A printed track pant that we have in our store always looks great when paired with a solid.” Prints are stunning on the figure when applied the right way. Sometimes the excitement of pairing prints can be overwhelming if put together all at once.  So for those of you who love prints, be aware! Don’t get crazy!

An easiest way of accomplishing this look is with a printed dress.

Grunge

Model Kendra is wearing a knit beanie from Target ($5), Brooklyn graphic tee ($13.99), black pants from TJMaxx ($20), and stylish boots from Aldo ($100).

Last but not least, the common trend that we are seeing a lot of on the runway is the grunge-inspired look. Many girls on and off the streets are pulling this look together with over the knee socks, beanies, plaid shirts, black leather accents and more. When asked on how to blend a professional and grunge look Hunt said, “tailored pieces are important and much more polished.” To help give the outfit just what it needs, Hunt shares with us that “edgy embellishments are always the way to go!”

Trends this season are not only fun and affordable but also great to mix and match as well. Go ahead! What are you waiting for? Upgrade your fall wardrobe with one of the many season trends you see happening now!
